Still the mystery
Atlantis was not found till nowadays. There are no evidences that there was Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean or in the Mediterranean 11500 years ago and than the civilization was damaged and described by Plato.
Scientists didn't find the remains of Atlantis in the islands of the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean. The bottom of the sea and ocean also don't keep anything good for the scientists.
People didn't manage to find it maybe because it was fully damaged or because it never existed. Almost in all books about Atlantis the reasons of its death were analysed with more details then they could have the real background.
Plato writes that Atlantis was damaged in a day. And anthropologists agree in this point that the catastrophe could be the instantaneous but the process of civilization dieing could last several years.
It is possible to suppose that Plato made up Atlantis to show the courage of his ancestors. But geography, geology and archaeology didn't become less interesting because Atlantis wasn't found.
But I am sure Atlantis will be looked for and thanks to it maybe archaeologists are going to find the new cultures and civilizations as well as the sunken ships, islands and ports. But probably they will be not Atlantis as this mystery will probably be always the greatest mystery of the human history and civilization. Atlantis is the word that will always provoke interest in the hearts of investigators and scientists.
