The description of Atlantis
So, scientists disagree on the topic of Atlantis existence. But if it existed in reality what was its face. Plato mentions a lot of factors giving details of its geography describing Atlantis. According to him Atlantis was situated somewhere near the Gibraltar.
According to this ancient writer Atlantis was the federation that consisted of 10 kingdoms and was great and rich country with developed agriculture and big cities. It covered attractive territory filled with forests that was crossed by the great number of canals.
The inhabitants of this country conquered almost the whole West of Europe and tried to conquer the whole Athens and Egypt. But they lost in the battle with them.
Plato also mentions that highly-developed civilization died in the result of the natural catastrophe that happened 11500 years ago or a little bit later. Plato described Atlantis in details defining the location of the island and the time of the civilization life on it.
The capital of the country was situated in the centre of the island. Plato describes that the island was situated highly above the sea and had the sharp shores. The country was surrounded by mountains that reached the sea. According to Plato the capital of Atlantis didn't present anything interesting from the architectural point of view and was very similar to the majority of ancient cities.
