The rich island

So, according to Plato Atlantis was situated on the island with its capital in the centre of an island. He also mentions that Atlantis was well-developed country. But how can it be explained?
Plato says that the country had a lot of treasures. First of all it had a lot of deposits of metals. The island was especially rich in gold that was extracted with other precious metals.
The country could provide food for all animals of the territory it occupied because the island had a lot of fertile lands, lakes and swamps. There was the temple to Poseidon in the yard of the palace situated in the capital that was located in the centre of the island. This temple was the main one where all sacrifices were held. This temple was decorated with gold both inside and outside. Some details were made of silver and elephant ivory. There were golden statues near the temple.
The climate of the island was mild as the mountains chain protected the island from the northern cold winds. The harvest was collected twice a year. The whole island similar to the capital was covered with a system of canals that not only provided the island with water but were also the great way of connection.
There are a lot of islands in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Mediterranean Sea that correspond to the description of Plato.
However, Atlantis was always considered to be the mystery that also kept a lot of treasure with the help of which people wanted to become rich and famous. Thanks to it the searches of Atlantis were even more intensive.
